• ADDITIONAL COMMENTS.
SNYDER QUARRY
PERMIT >YM-77-210
ENHANCED RECLAMATION NEGOTIATIONS: Negotiations over enhanced reclamation are
continuing and nearing completion. It is possible that a result of the negotiations will be a
complete redesign of the remainder of the quarry, including the removal of ABOUT 10 acres
of currently permitted but yet undisturbed land from the mining plan and the production of an
over excavation hole to make up for the removed reserves. This approach would modify
Phases III and IV, but leave Phases I and II essentially as they are.
TREE PLANTINGS: As required by Board order the tree plantings along the roadway and in
Williams Canyon are to be reported on an annual basis. The survey of the tree numbers is
planned as part of a general revegetation survey analysis to be conducted in June. The results
of the tree survey portions of that revegetation analysis will be provided at a later date.
SEDIMENT BASINS: As required by Board order, the condition of the sediment basins is to
be reported annually. At this time, the sediment basins appear to be doing a reasonably
effective job at capturing sediment. However, due to the high volume of the ponds in
comparison to the small area they serve, there has not been a need to clean the ponds. There
is still a considerable amount of available volume in the ponds. Being beside the road, they
are easily monitored and if the volume increases suddenly due to a major storm they will be
cleaned out.
Page 1 Supplemental Sheet M-77-210 1993 Annual Report
