Dear Mr. Keffelew:
Enclosed please find the annual report form, annual fee of $1,000.00 (check no. 00068125),
and map for Cripple Creek 8r Victor Gold Mining Company's ("CC&V") Cresson Project, Permit
M-1980-244. This report covers the time period between April 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004.
Reportable Conditions:
Amendment No. 8 site preparation and development activities continued in the Main Cresson
and East Cresson Mine areas. Construction of Phase IVb of the Valley Leach Facility ("VLF")
was completed in 2003. Phase IVc construction will continue in 2004. Enhancement of
stormwater control features continued in 2003. Remaining Amendment No. 8 activities will
continue throughout 2004 and beyond.
CC&V implemented reclamation techniques on approximately 50.5 acres of land during the
reporting period. The majority of this reclamation consisted of re-seeding acreage
(maintenance), which had shown limited revegeation due to drought conditions during the 2002
growing season. Approximately 3.5 of the 50.5 acres (portions of the South Haul Road)
received initial reclamation. The areas receiving initial or maintenance efforts in 2003 consisted
of development rock removal areas, Highway 67 realignment and related disturbances within
the permit boundary, VLF pumpback facility, storm water structures, and portions of the South
Haul Road. In addition, backfilling of the Portland surface mine began in January 2004 and will
continue in 2004.
