' A-1 Alluvia] ground water well located adjacent to Stollsteimer Creek below the
surface facilities and the Barren Ridge area. The site has been monitored to
t assess effects of mining the Barren Ridge area. This well is adjacent to surface
water station S-2.
' W-1 Alluvial ground water well located adjacent to Stollsteimer Creek above the mine
facilities. This station was selected to assess alluvial baseline conditions.
W-5 Alluvial ground water well located adjacent to Stollsteimer Creek below all mining
' activities. The station was selected to assess potential effects of mining on the
alluvial water quality and level.
' W-6 Deep ground water well located in the mouth of Deep Creek Canyon. The
station was selected to monitor deep aquifer baseline in the Fruitland Formation
' during mining of the Barren Ridge and Revision Area No. 1.
W-7 Domestic well located in the alluvium of Stollsteimer Creek approximately 3/4
mile above mining activities. The station was selected as a control to assess the
effects of mining on well water quality.
' VV-9 Deep ground water well located in the Fruitland Formation below the sedimenta-
tion ponds controlling runoff from Revision Area No. 1. The station was selected
' to assess effects of mining activities on aquifer quality and level.
W-10 Deep ground water well located in the Fruitland Formation above the sediments-
tion ponds controlling the Revision Area No. 1. The objectives of this station are
' similar to those of W-9.
W-16 Deep ground water well located in the reclaimed area of the east pit near
Highway 151. The site was selected to assess the quality and level of water in the
reclaimed aquifer.
' W-17 Deep ground water well located in the mouth of Deep Creek Canyon. The
station was selected to monitor water quality and level in the Fruitland and/or
Pictured Cliffs Sandstone Formations as pit development takes place in the
' Revision Area No. 2.
' W-18 Deep ground water well located in the mouth of Deep Creek Canyon. The
station was selected for objectives similar to those of W-17.
' On January 30, 1986, the CMLRD approved a Technical Revision to reduce the
t hydrologic monitoring program at the site. Stations associated with the Revision Area No.
2 in Deep Creek (DC-1, W-17 and W-18) are not required to be monitored by the current
program. The water quality parameters of arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, molybdenum
' and selenium have also been eliminated from all stations except well W-16 located in the
