February 3, 1994 <br />/-~} <br />1 - J / <br />Mr. Harry Ranney <br />Reclamation Specialist _ ~,_, ~„ <br />Colorado Division oC Minerals and Geology <br />215 Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO 80203-2273 <br />RE: Annual Reclamation Report for 1993 -Chimney Rock Mine (Permit No. C-8I-023) <br />Dear Mr. Ranney, <br />Kaiser Resources, Inc. hereby submits the following information which summarizes reclamation activities <br />which were conducted at the above referenced mine during 1993. <br />Since final reclamation of disturbed areas was completed in 1991, maintenance of these areas was the only <br />activity conducted during 1993. Mainlenance activities were conducted on the contour furrows and diversion <br />ditches as required during the summer and fall of the year following the significant storm events which were <br />experienced a[ the site. Significant storm evenu included the following: <br />August 18 2.5 inches <br />August 20 2.0 inches <br />August 21 2.5 inches <br />August 2829 3.5 inches <br />September 13 2.3 inches <br />September 15 1.0 inches <br />October 2 0.95 inches <br />All site ditches and ponds are designed to contain the 10-year 24-hour storm event of 2.1 inches. Of these <br />seven storm events, Cour exceeded the ]0-year 24-hour event and one storm exceeded the 100-year 24-hour <br />storm of 3.25 inches. <br />Areas of reclamation included several washouts of contour furrows on the east side of the East Pit, two <br />washouts of contour furrows on the west side of the East Pit, two washouts in the Barren Ridge, and two <br />washouts and repair of a small tension crack on the Revision 1 Area (sec attached Map 7 of the Permit <br />Document for location ofreclamation areas conducted during 1993). No other visible subsidence or damage <br />Crom storm events were observed.
