Only one deep well (W82-2L) was monitored in Hydrologic Sector III.
Water quality is similar to that which was sampled in Gordon Arroyo (W82-19A) in
that it is a highly mineralized sodium sulfate/bicarbonate water with moderate
SAR and iron concentrations, high TDS and conductivity, and low trace metals.
Comparison of the hydrologic sectors within formations may be done
from examining Stations W82-12L, W82-4L and W82-2L (Sectors I, II and III) and
Stations W82-411C and W82-4C, Sectors I and II. Analysis indicates that the
underground workings of the Cameron Seam in Sector I has changed water quality
from the type of water sampled in the seam in Sector II. Also, waters within the
Lennox Seam are affected by the exposure time to underground workings over the
permit area, accounting for the variation in water quality.
Water quality in the alluvium was monitored in each of the three
hydrologic sectors at Stations W82-17A, W82-18A and W82-19A. Stations W82-17A
• and W82-18A are in the Maitland alluvium, while W82-19A is the Gordon alluvium.
Water quality of Stations W82-17A and W82-18A compare closely. The
water is a sodium/calcium bicarbonate-type water with a moderate mineralization.
The water also has a low SAR, high concentrations of iron, and low concentrations
of trace metals. Conversely, Station W82-19A in Gordon Arroyo is a highly
mineralized sodium bicarbonate-type water with TDSraL4 conductivity being
measured at over 3000. The station exhibits high SAR and low concentrations of
trace metals.

-12-
