MINREC, INC.
NORTH THOMPSON CREEK MINES
2.04.13 1992 Annual Reclamation Report
(a) Permittee:
Minrec, Inc.
2768 Compass Drive, Suite 101
Grand Junction, CO 61506
Permit No. C-81-025
(b) No land was disturbed during 1992 except a small area
where the long pond embankment was being fortified.
(c) No land was backfilled during 1992.
(d) No land was topsoiled during 1992.
(e) No land was seeded or cultivated during 1992.
(f) The disturbed areas associated with the North Thompson
Creek Mines were reclaimed during 1986 and 1987. In the
fall of 1986 the refuse pile was seeded and mulched. In
the fall of 1987 the remainder of the mine site was
seeded and mulched and the unit train loadout was seeded.
Following is a table which shows the location, number of
acres and date of planting for all previously revegetated
areas. All seeding was done in the fall of the year.
Location Acres Year Seeded
Refuse Pile 8.0 1986
Mine Sites 30.7 1987
Truck Dump 1.9 1987
Unit Train Loadout 24.5 1987
(g) A vegetation study was performed at the mine site during
1992. The study was performed to determine if the cover
at the mine site was adequate to control erosion. The
cover at the mine site averages 44.18 which is quite
good. A comparison was made with the adjacent area and
a demonstration showed that drainage from the reclaimed
area will contribute fewer suspended solids than
untreated drainage from the natural surrounding areas
(permit pages 4-19i - 4-19iii). Therefore the vegetation
at the mine sites, both No. 1 and No. 3 Mines, is
adequate to control erosion.
