•
Additional Sheet
1999 Annual Report
Pueblo East Pit
u
M-86-015
Transit Mix of Pueblo
Anniversary Date: November 12, 1999
Overview of Permit Year: During the 1998/1999 operating year there was little activity at the site. A permit
revision and amendment is under consideration for submittal in the future, therefore this operation is expected
to be operated in the future.
The only activity was the removal of a small amount of material from a small stockpile located in the
northern part of the Disturbed Area shown on the annual report map.
Disturbance Areas:
Total Disturbance =approximately 8.1 acres, including access.
Exposed water =approximately 2.3 acres in a lake located adjacent to the river.
General Conditions: The condition of the site is good with little erosion occurring. The late April/early May
Flood that impacted this area caused little damage even though it overtopped the rip rap berm located between
the lake and the river. However, considerable sedimentation occurred in the lake reducing its depth.
Future Activity: A major amendment to this operation is under planning at this time. This amendment, in
addition to adding acreage (unknown amount at this time), will present a more modern mining approach, a
progressive reclamation plan, and increased stream bank protection measures for the operation and adjacent
lands. The latter is considered important because hydrologic projections anticipate more frequent events similar
to the April/May Flood in 1999. This Flooding pattern is ezpetted to be a continued potential hazard until
adequate drainage controls can be implemented in the Fountain Creek/Sand Creek drainages near Colorado
Springs.
Annual Report Map: An annual report map is included. This map is based upon the original permit map which
was based upon a USGS topographic map. River alignments have changed considerably since the original map
was prepared. The amendment under planning will provide full information on river alignments and detailed
topography. It is likely the enclosed map will be the last annual report map to be submitted that will be based on
the original permit map.
Affected Lands: No change from previous reports.
Bonding: This operation is covered under a Corporate Surety.
Transit Mix of Pueblo 1999 Annual Report M-84-015 Pueblo East Pit Page 1 of 1
