EASTSIDE MINE
Summary of 1992 Water Monitoring
Extent of Minina
No mining advances were made in 1992. The entries of the Eastside
Mine are advanced a total of 1100 feet. Three entries are driven
on the strike.
Flow and Field Parameters
The flow and field parameters of the Harvey Gap Outlet above and
below the mine continue to demonstrate the seasonal discharges from
the Harvey Gap Reservoir. No significant deviations from the 1985-
1991 data are noted.
There was no flow in the Harvey Gap Outlet-Above Mine in December
due to the low water level in the Harvey Gap Reservoir. There was
a small amount of water seeping around the weir from which samples
were taken for the field parameters as well as the chemical
parameters.
At the concrete structure, the sampling point for field and
chemical parameters in the Harvey Gap Outlet-Below Mine, there were
minimal flows during January, February, March, September, October,
November and December. In January, the ice was so thick that no
sample was taken. In February, March, September, October and
November, these were enough flows for field parameter sampling.
During December, due to ice buildup and the low flow, samples for
field parameters and chemical parameters were taken below the
concrete structure.
At the flow sampling points on the East and West Laterals of the
Harvey Gap Outlet-Below Mine, there was no flow in January,
February, March, September, and October.
Chemical Parameters
The chemical parameter results of the Harvey Gap Outlet above the
mine and below the mine generally fall within the ranges
established 1985-1991. During the winter months, conductivity, pH,
alkalinity, dissolved solids, SAR, cations, magnesium, sodium,
bicarbonate, and sulfate have been reported in the higher portions
of the established ranges for the eight years of sampling. The
values below the mine for December 1992 slightly exceed the
established high levels for pH, conductivity, sodium and sulfate.
Causes for these higher values are unknown. There appears to be
3
