The
company address is 1311 Bentwood Drive, Evansville, Indiana 47711. The permit area is located
on 4133 acres of private land approximately 7 miles northwest of Weston, Colorado at an elevation
of6850 MSL in Section 25, T33S, R68W. Mine disturbance including the facilities areas, sediment
control system, and ancillary facilities occupy approximately 145 acres. Several small areas of
disturbance have been reclaimed over the past 20 years including three bench faces ofthe RDA, out
slopes of the Development Waste Pile, areas along Highway 12, and areas of the West Portal.
Due to the temporary cessation of operations at the mine, facilities maintenance has focused on the
sediment control system and repair oferosion damage at the RDA. No reclamation activities were
conducted at the facilities area during 1998. Phase [II liability release was approved in 1998 which
reduced the permit area and eliminated those lands above underground workings to the south of the
surface facilities area. The shaft locations in Apache Canyon were also eliminated from liability.
Should you have questions or need additional information concerning these request, please do not
hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Jerry H.
