ATTACHMENT TO ANNUAL REPORT
CARNATION MINE
PERMIT NO. M-1977-416
NOVEMBER 1, 2003
A new mine site map, at scale 1" = 100' was submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology on
March 20, 2003. This map shows the site conditions as of late summer 2002
During late fall of 2003, a minor amount of site remediation /reclamation work was conducted in an
area of the mine yard where an ore loadout structure was failing. The loadout structure was removed,
and the highwall where the structure was located was graded to blend into surrounding topography. In
addition, the "Old Carnation Portal" at the north end of the site was filled with dirt to eliminate the
hazard created by this opening. Trash and debris around the mine site were picked up and disposed.
The permanent access road above the Carnation mine sites was repaired and bladed, although this road
is very difficult to stabilize due to steep grade and weak surface materials.
In early summer of 2003, after the updated site map was submitted in Maroh 2003, the Carnation Mine
site was re-surveyed, and the site maintenance work that was conducted in late 2002 was included. A
new site map is being prepared to show the present site status. The Operator is presently preparing a
Request for Technical Revision to the Carnation Mine Permit M-1977-416 in order to clarify the
Affected Area boundary and to fully encompass all modem mine related disturbances. This Request
will be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology in the near future. The Request will include
the updated site map showing the areas where work occurred in late 2002.
Upon finalization of the upcoming Technical Revision to the Camation Mine Permit M-1977-416, a
site reclamation map will be finalized and submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology.
No new disturbances within the permit area are presently anticipated during the coming year. No
reclamation is planned during 2004, as the Carnation Mine will remain in standby status pending
improved uranium/vanadium market conditions.
