The attached form summarizes mining and reclamation <br />activities for the year. <br />Mining commenced at the Jeff Canyon Surface Mine in October 2001, and a total of 107 acres <br />was disturbed at year's end. In addition to prestripping and coal mining operations, a small <br />railroad loadout facility, topsoil piles, haul road improvements, and five sediment ponds were <br />constructed. No backfill or reclamation activities had begun. <br />Annual raptor nest monitoring will begin this spring, and hydrological monitoring was conducted <br />throughout 2001 in accordance with the approved plan. <br />Should you have questions or wish further discussion of LCC's 2001 reclamation activities, <br />please call. <br />Sincerely, <br />K.
