Flow continued from the B East Mains (BEM) fault
and the 14 Southeast Headgate (14SEHG) fault, although flows from both faults diminished and
relocated as mining progressed downdip along the faults. MCC also experienced the usual small
inflows, which quickly subsided, as development mining occurred. Total mine inflows were
estimated at 100 gpm during WY00.
As is typical, MCC encountered small inflows during development mining with continuous
miners. Initial inflows ranged from less than 0.05 gpm to I S gpm, and then decreased to drips,
or dried entirely. The locations of all inflows are shown on Map 1.
NW Panels Sealed Sump
During WY00, MCC continued to utilize the NW Panels sealed sump, which is the area that was
created by mining the INW through 7NW longwall panels, and shown on Map 1. The use of this
sump allowed MCC to become more efficient in handling mine inflows, and to ensure that water
is discharged in compliance with MCC's CDPS discharge permit. Until June 2000, MCC routed
most of the mine inflow water to the NW Panels sealed sump and discharged via the Lone Pine
Pipeline to the North Fork.
831-0.31.550 Page 19 Wright WarerEngineers
