During the period second mining of the section was completed and the section sealed. For the remainder of the quarter mining was concentrated in the main entries establishing a five entry system to the south. Water conditions were as not as bad as encountered in the 4th East Section. Sumps were established to to control the discharge to the surface. With continued development of the entries, coal partings thickened resulting a decision to discontinue development of the entries. Crews are now 2nd. mining this area and planning a new approach to the remainder of the reserves. Discharge from the mine is being monitored in accordance with the re- quirements of Stipulation Nos. 1 an 2 and the NPDES permit. Copies of discharge logs, sample logs, NPDES reports, and Mine Maps are enclosed.
