The affected area <br />was less than 1 acre. The majority of the material removed was used to construct the <br />acceleration lane along County Road #3. The Special Use Permit from Grand County <br />requved the acceleration lane be built prior to any sale of material. The permit from the <br />County also required a berm along County Road #3 to mitigate the visual impact. During <br />the permit process with the County the census with the Planning Commission and the <br />County Commissioners was they would rather see a mining plan that would move from <br />West [o East along [he face in order to put more space between County Road #3 and the <br />mining operation.
