ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: United Companies of Mesa County
Location: 15 Road Pit
File Number: M-2002-114
Anniversary Date: March 13, 2007
This location was active this report period. Mining is finishing up in phase one and a
little bit of phase two has been opened up for mining. This location serves as United
Companies main material source and is used for crushing, washing, & stockpiling of
aggregates used in road construction, asphalt paving, & concrete. United is amending
this permit to add an additional area to the permit. This land adjoins the east boundary of
the pit and extends east along the north side of the north I-70 ROW fence line. United
will continue to use the existing 15 Road pit haul road and intersection onto U.S.
Highway 6. Part of this amendment process involves providing easements to the City of
Fruita, and possibly enlarging an existing easement for Excel Energy.
United has regraded a portion of the phase one mining area and intends to do more of the
same this coming year. Weed control includes a twice a year treatment by a weed control
subcontractor. Discharge water quality is well within health department standards.
I'll show the enlarged permit boundary on next years report map as I have some Mesa
County stipulations and easement recording that will take some time to complete.
Sincerely,
Brent W. Kerr
Resource Manager
