• ~ <br />CASTLE CONCRETE COMPANY'S <br />MINED LAND RECLAMATION <br />1983 ANNUAL REPORT <br />SNYDER QUARRY <br />77-210 <br />INTRODUCTION: Changes in this quarry in the last <br />year have been, as usual, rather small but larger than in <br />previous years. Open pit mining has progressed, but no <br />underground mining occurred because of low demand for high <br />calcium limestone. The visual berm was top soiled and replanted. <br />Rule 2.41(1): Virtually the entire rim to rim <br />area of the pit has been opened. During the year, most of <br />the extraction occurred on the west side (back) of the pit. <br />A small amount (less than 28) occurred on the floor of the <br />pit. <br />Midway through the year, the processing plant was <br />shut down and the involved process of moving it to the <br />perimeter was performed. The quarry has now left the Initial <br />Step behind and has entered Cycle Steps 1 and 2, where the <br />pit floor will be lowered. This will continue for many <br />years. <br />Disposal of not readily marketable material still <br />needs to be addressed, but solutions are being found with <br />the help of nearby land developments, desiring some of the <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
