Energy Fuels Mining Company
Raton Creek Mine
1994
ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT
Introduction
The Annual Reclamation Report documents reclamation activities, including backfilling,
grading, topsoiling, and seeding conducted by Energy Fuels Mining Company (EFMC) at the
Raton Creek Mine during the 1994 calendar year. This report includes text, discussion, and a
map in accordance with the requirements of Rule 2.04.13. The operation was in permanent
cessation -reclamation status during the reporting period.
Reclamation activities relevant to this report were conducted only at the Mine Site during the
reporting period. The reclamation work involved completion of backfilling and grading that
was started in late 1993 (refer to the 1993 Annual Reclamation Report). Detailed information
about the 1994 reclamation work is presented below.
Disturbed Areas
An area of approximately 0.2 acres was re-disturbed during the reporting period. This area is
adjacent to the west end of Cleanwater Diversion 1, Section B. This area is mentioned in this
report because it lies just outside the permitted disturbance boundary but was apparently
disturbed during mining operations by EFMC's predecessor, Sundance Coal Company. The
area was backfilled by EFMC during reconstruction of Diversion 1 ditch and will be seeded
and mulched in 1995.
More information about this disturbed area may be found in Technical Revision No. 16,
currently under review.
Backfilled and Graded Areas
EFMC backfilled and graded approximately 25.3 acres of the Mine Site facilities area in
accordance with approved plans in the permit application. The locations of the backfilled and
graded areas are shown on the accompanying map, 1994 Annual Reclamation Map, Mine
Site.
Reclamation work at the Mine Site included sealing portals, removal of surface structures,
backfilling all highwalls, regrading, and installing temporary and permanent drainage
controls. The completed work resulted in reclamation of disturbed areas to provide for long-
term stability and effective drainage control consistent with the approved postmining land
uses.
