The portion of road to be relocated lies adjacent to a portion of the <br />Twrntymiie Sandstone ciiffschedttled to be undermined during the latter half of 1995. <br />The proposed relocated roadway is depicted on the attached Map No. 23B, Structures <br />and Renewable Resources, and is geaerslly located in the NW '/. of Section 31, TSN, <br />R86W. <br />The relocation of the roadway will entail vacation of the existingright-of--way and <br />dedication of a new right-of-way within which the new roadway will be constructed. <br />Permanent relocation of the roadway is necessitated to ensure that public safety is not <br />compromised as a result of TCC mining operations. The previously proposed rock fence <br />protection measure has bern thoroughly evaluated and determined to be potentially less <br />effective than TCC requires. In the alternative, TCC has developed proposed protettion <br />measures which consist of the construction of a series of trenches and berms designed to <br />catch any tnckfall which might occur. The trenches and berms provide a more reliable <br />harard mitigation than dre rock fence alternative. Given the limited distance between the <br />existing alignment of County Road 27 and the Twen[ymile Sandstone cliff in the vicinity <br />of the proposed road relocation, TCC proposes to constmct a berm on the existing <br />roadway area and further proposes to rerouoe County Road 27 slightly to the soudr of this <br />proposed berm consuuctian. <br />Legal Description: TCC is in [he process of establishing the appropriate legal descriptions for the affected <br />righu-of--way and will provide this informazion to the Routt County Regional Planing <br />Commission at the earliest opportunity. <br />General Location: The existing alignment of Routt County Road 27 in the area of interest and the proposed <br />relocated roadway are situated in dte NW '/. of Section 31, TSN, R86 W and are depicted <br />on the attached Map No. 23H, Structures and Renewable Resources. <br />Lut of all Adjacent Property Owners and Mailing Addressn: <br />Cyprus Westem Coal Company is the sole adjacent property owner within the area <br />affected by this proposal.
