• consumed 158.95 AC-FT of water in order to produce 5,054,000 tons of coal. Pond evaporation
i is estimated at 2.0 AC-FT per yeaz. The addition of the estimated pond evaporation to the mine
consumption produces a consumptive use of 160.95 AC-FT of water for the 2000 year and is less
than the estimated 234.6 AC-FT indicated in the permit application. This usage indicates that
water for dust suppression and fire prevention at the Bowie No. 2 Mine is currently averaging
approximately 31.8 AC-FT per million tons of coal. This usage approximates the 1999 per
million ton usage of 31 AC-FT per million tons of coal.
Conclusions
It is reasonable to assume that during the 1999 Mine Water Inflow study season, less than 10
gallons per minute aze flowing into the mine workings of the Bowie No. 2 Mine, that
approximately 120 gallons of water per minute is introduced from the Deer Trail Ditch and that
any sudden increase in mine inflow values could be reasonable incorporated into the dust
suppression process, precluding the necessity for any mine dischazges.

•
•
