Cattany
Division Director
RE: 2005 ARR Review, Lorencito Canyon Mine, #C-96-084 Natural Resource Trustee
Dear Mr. Thompson:
The Division of Minerals and Geology has completed review of the 2005 Annual Reclamation
Report (ARR) for the Lorencito Canyon Mine, #C-98-084. The ARR map was also included with
the report and reviewed accordingly.
The acreage values appear accurate when compared to values reported in the 2004 ARR.
Information reported is in compliance with the requirements of Rule 2.04.13. One omission was
noted. The 2004 ARR included Tables ARR-1 and ARR-2. These tables provide detail
regarding reclaimed acreage, topsoil distribution, and seeding plans. The Division requests that
these tables be included in each annual reclamation report. Please submit these tables for
inclusion into the 2005 ARR.
Soil sampling results were noted attached to this years report. Test results indicate that the
pond 9 material is suitable for use as subsoil material. Receipts for delivery of certified weed-free
straw bales were also included, the use of which is required by the approved reclamation plan,
However, the seed mix receipt attached indicates that it was ordered for the Golden Eagle mine
and does not reflect the seed mix approved for use at the Lorencito Canyon mine. Rule
2.04.13(1 j(e) requires that the plant species planted during the year be reported. Please provide
this information for incorporation into the 2005 ARR.
Please respond to the above questions as necessary within 30 days of receipt of this
letter. We have no further questions at this time. Thank you for your diligence in completing
your monitoring and reporting requirements. If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincer y/~~`2~~
Kent• Gorham
Environmental Protection Specialist II
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
