Box 1299
Paonia, CO 81428
Re: Orchard Valley Mine, File No. C-81-038, 1989 Mine Inflow Report
Dear Mr. Johnson:
Your report has been reviewed. The following additions should provide a more
useful document in the future:
1. Flow rates from the Stevens Gulch water line would help determine
the source of the very alkaline-saline mine waters now found.
2. An estimate of the volume of standing water in the mine should be
made every year and compared with its surface area and evaporative
rate.
The Division has the following questions about your 1989 report:
1. Is the pools of standing water homogeneous throughout the mine?
2. What are the meaning of areas marked with diagonal lines, dots
and hyphens?
3. What happened to the 0.25 gpm inflow at 1988 site 25 (between
panels A and H?
Sincerely,
/ ti
J.
