As previously discussed, the determination of average uranium content would be determined by actual field work which would involve a radiometric survey of the materials at issue. Survev Method Rationale. As stated in our letter of September 12, 1996, survey methods have become fairly standardized as a reliable field investigation procedure to determine the radioactive materials content or activih7 in rocks or soil. While there aze general pazazneters for the surveys, all of the survey methods recognize the need to tailor each method to site specific parameters. Our September 12 letter included three documents describing survey approaches. The three surveys cross a wide range of situations, ranging from a method utilized for mine sites to a method used for surveys designed for use at uranium processing facilities. For the Sunday properties, EFN chose to use the method that is designed for mining properties. Our chosen method is utilized by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Land Quality Clivision ("WDEQ/LQD"). See WDEO/LOD Guideline No. 3. Radioloeical Survey. Data from this survey method aze used to establish premining radiological baseline as well as to assist in establishing reclamation goals.
