We continued to mine in Stage llthis year
working on an area disturbed in past years. This pit HAS NOT been
granted a Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated ml re than 180 days
this year. The Financial Warranty for this operation is $79,800, the
permitted area is 170.70 ac. ± and the pit is divided into 5 Reclama-
tion Phases. As required in Rule 3.1.12 a sign haslbeen installed at
the entrance to the pit and the boundary has been outlined to delin-
eate the affected lands.
Please refer to the 1995-96 Annual Report Map, for locations of
the areas discussed in this text (attached). We will deal specifi-
cally with the Annual Report requirements outlined in Rule 1.15 and
the annual report form.
(1) Mining continued in the Stage 1 on area disturbed in previous
years. Mining to total depth was completed on a 2.07 acres ±
parcel on the northern part of the stage (cross-hatched). A
additional 0.80 acres parcel was mined on theleast end of the
lake. we have 16.69 acres t of lake area (blue), and 29.82
acres ± stripped, ready for mining (yellow). IThe topsoil
stockpile (brown) contains approximately 63,030 YD' and covers
1.76 acres ±. Most of the mining this year took place on the
bottom of the lake where the final layer of gravel was removed
to the top of the underlaying shale layer. The pit is dewater-
ed at this time, so the floor of the lake area can be mined.
Stage 5 is still used as processing plant site and contains
gravel stockpiles, concrete casting beds, an asphalt plant and
the office facilities.
(2) No reclamation was required this year. However we completed
sloping and resoilinq on 1.13 acres t of lake shore along the
