Mowry, Reclamation Specialist
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street, Room 423
Denver, CO 80203-2273
Re: Mine Bench Regrading, File No. C-047-81
Dear Susan:
MINED LANO
RECLAMA710N DIVISION
As discussed over the phone last week, additional diagrams are being submitted
to further describe the proposed work on the portal bench. Access to the mine
site was limited by a slide across the road in February; therefore, a more
detailed survey was not feasible.
The first diagram shows existing and regraded contours on the bench as well
as where cross-sections were taken. The second diagram shows cross-sections
on 50' centers along the permanent diversions. These cross-sections correspond
to channel profile submitted in a diagram January 27, 1987. In addition to
excavation from the diversion, a minor amount of excavation will be done along
the outside edge of the bench to facilitate drainage. The excavated material
will be used to establish a mound between the diversion and the edge of the
bench and to increase the grade above the diversion.
In response to questions concerning excavation of refuse, none will be excavated.
The north end of the diversion will be excavated down to approximately one
foot above the original yard. The full length of the diversion is east of
the limits of refuse fill during the bench re stabilization project; therefore,
the only refuse below the ditch is the coal used as a pad on the bench.
Let me know if there are any further questions.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~~
Larry Reschke
Project Engineer
LMR:jp
Enclosures
