1 ~ ~.. <br />1 <br />3.2 COMPARISON TO REFERENCE AREA <br />Table 2 provides the quantitative data for the Pinyon-Juniper Woodland <br />Complex reference area as established and sampled in August 1984. Table 3 <br />is a summary and comparison of the cover data from the reference and <br />reclaimed areas. <br />Asolute cover in the reclaimed area was 56.1 percent, almost 6 percent <br />greater than the reference area. All herbaceous categories, perennial and <br />annual graminoids, and perennial and annual fortis were significantly higher <br />in the reclaimed area. Litter cover in the reclaimed area approaches <br />' litter cover of the reference area; however, both rock and soil cover are <br />lower. With regard to shrub species, many of the native shrubs are <br />actively colonizing the reclaimed area.
