Dear Mr. Mills:
We have completed our review of the Mine No. 3 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR)
for the 1986 to 1987 water year. The report indicates that some of the
required monitoring was not completed. Specific omissions are detailed
below. The review also includes a discussion of the data analyses and
presentation.
Sampling frequency
As stated above, some of the required monitoring was not completed during the
1986-1987 water year. The problems are detailed below, and they are organized
in the following categories: bedrock wells; spoil wells; alluvial wells; and
surface water sites. Please review this section carefully and provide a
detailed explanation regarding the apparent monitoring omissions. Please
understand that enforcement action may be required if the missed sampling and
analyses cannot be adequately justified.
Bedrock We17s
Wells 008-77-58 and 008-79-6 -
As discussed in the CYCC cover letter dated January 28, 1988, the
May 1987 full suite water quality samples were not collected from
these wells. We can accept the December 1987 water quality samples
as replacements for the missed May 1987 samples. Please verify
that taro additional bedrock well samples will be obtained during
the current water year.
Carbonate was not analyzed for the October 1986 samples.
