During the course of the calendar year 2000, BMRI submitted four technical revision
applications to the CDMG. These revisions included:
Technical Revision (TR-27) -BMRI submitted revised Emergency Response and Environmental
Protection Plans incorporating operational revisions and chemical reagent modifications
associated with the West Pit water treatment plant. CDMG approved this technical revision in
January 2000.
Technical Revision (TR-28) -BMRI submitted an application regarding long-term water quality
standards and monitoring in the vicinity of the West Pit. This application addressed potential
water quality standards and groundwater monitoring of the West Pit hydrological system.
Subsequently, BMRI withdrew the application conditional to the re-submittal of a revised
application prior to September 2001.
Technical Revision (TR-29) -BMRI submitted a request to construct two stormwater
sedimentation ponds associated with the Waste Rock Facility C/West Pit stormwater
management system. The ponds were designed to contain a stormwater event up to and
including a 24-hour, 10-year event. The CDMG approved the Technical Revision (TR-29) on
July 6, 2000 and BMRI subsequently completed construction of the ponds during the summer of
2000.
Technical Revision (TR-30) -BMRI submitted a request to transfer water treatment plant brine
to the tailings facility. Supporting technical documentation was prepared by HSI Geotrans and
the Natural Resources Conservation District concerning potential soil permeability and
vegetation concerns raised by CDMG. CDMG approved the technical revision on September 25,
2000. BMRI has been operating brine transfers since that date in accordance with the
limitations imposed by the Division.
Enclosed is a photocopy of the check for the $1,000 annual fee payment. The check was
sent to the Division in February. Enclosed also is a property map showing disturbance and
reclamation activities.
Sincere
David E.
