J.J. Dudash 2 January 13, 2006
3. In Table 1 of Volume 4 of the permit application, quarterly water quality
analyses are required for surface water monitoring stations SW-5, SW-6
and SW-10. However, Figures Nos. 50, 52 and 54 show that SW-5 and
SW-6 were sampled twice in 2004 and SW-10 was sampled once. Please
explain why quarterly water quality monitoring was not done.
BRL -Historically, these sites are not accessible during the 1S` quarter,
therefore the sampler did not take sample bottles with him to SW-5 and
SW-6 on the March monitoring date. During the 3rd quarter monitoring at
these sites the sampler took water samples in August and both sites were
dry. We have instructed the sampler to schedule his water sampling for
the 15~ month of each quarter, and if the site is dry at that time he has the
_ _ __ _ _ _ _ follower two months, if there not also dry, to get water for analysis. Our
monitoring tables that the sampler uses wereincorrectToFfrequency on
SW-10 (see Table 1, pg T1-2, 2004 Report). It indicated that lab analyses
were only taken annually. We have corrected this on the table and sent
the sampler updated monitoring information. These will be corrected as of
2006.
4. In Figure No. 47 of the 2004 AHR, "Mtr Bypass" appears in the Field
Comments section of the data sheet for Spring 32. Please explain what
"Mtr Bypass" means.
BRL - "Mtr Bypass" means that the meter at the monitoring location has
been bypassed. The local landowners have been bypassing the meter
because they felt it was restricting flow, As of August 2005 this has been
corrected.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
~~~
J.
