• Four additional surface water sites required monitoring under the TCC program in 1996. Foidel Creek sites 14 <br />and 304, and Fish Creek sites 307 and 305. Monthly water levels were to be obtained from March/early April <br />through September. These monitoring requirements were met during 1996. Tables 37 and 38 provide summaries <br />of [he 1996 Water Year data collected at Foidel Creek surface sites in conjunction with alluvial well monitoring. <br />Tables 44 and 45 provide summaries of the 1996 Water Year data collected at Fish Creek surface sites in <br />conjunction with alluvial well monitoring.. <br />Site 14 is also monitored under fire CYCC program as a surface water flow site requiring monthly Flow/field <br />parameter visits while flowing and four water quality sampling instances. Consequently, data beyond that <br />required to fulfill the TCC requirements is presented on Table 37. The weir at site 14 was washed out in May <br />1996. Subsequent flow measurements were generated by direct measurement of the stream. Sites 304. 307, and <br />305. are monitored in conjunction with alluvial wells 008-AV-I and 2, 006-AZ-3, and 008-AU-3 respectively. <br />Figures 40. 50, and 54 provide graphical representations of data collected a[ these sites. 1996 Water Year data for <br />these sites is presented as Tables 38, 44, and 45. The historical summary of flaw rate data for selected surface <br />sites is presented as Table 50. This table also provides Flow summary information for discharge sites 62, 109, and <br />IIS. <br />Middle Creek Anew surface water monitoring station was established on Middle Creek in 1996. Site MC-I is <br />• located upstream of any mining activities and requires monthly flow and field parameter measurements with <br />quarterly water quality sample collection. Data collection commenced in August 1996. Water quality data is <br />provided on Table 49 with plots of selected data presented on Figures 102 and 103. <br />NATURAL SPRING MONITORING <br />Two natural springs. SWI and SW2. located over previously mined areas in the Southwest Mining District <br />required monitoring during 1996. Quarterly Flow, field parameter, and water quality samples are required for <br />these sites. All required monitoring was completed during 1996. Tables 56 and 57 provide summaries of data <br />collected at these sites during the year. No unusual water quality characteristics are apparent. Flow at site SW I <br />was observed to resume in August after having been documented as ceased in September of 1995. SWI flows <br />typicalh- occurred throughout the year prior to mining. SW2 exhibited flows occurred in December and May of <br />the 1996 Water Year. SW2 Flows were historically more sporadic during the period prior to mining. TCC will <br />continue to monitor these locations in 1996. <br />One natural spring (20-14) located in the vicinity of proposed future underground mining areas required semi- <br />annual flow/field parameter and water quality sampling during 1996. Monitoring requirements were rnet at this <br />. site in 1996. Monitoring at the site was initiated in 1987 and flows have historically been minor (see Figure 108). <br />
