Prior field data for the monitoring stations
established for this area has been submitted with the 2nd half,
1993 subsidence monitoring report. The field data for the various
stations will be submitted with this report, but the channel
profiles stream cross-sections will not be included with this
report. Also, the previously submitted vegetation data is not
included in this report.
As part of the approval to undermine and subside a segment of Fish
Creek and its associated alluvial valley floor Twentymile Coal
Company established and extensive hydrologic monitoring network.
A problem did occur with instructing the laboratory about the
parameters to be analyzed for from the samples obtained from the
Fish Creek study area. The original samples obtained in October
were analyzed for the correct set of parameters; however, the
samples obtained during the period of November through June were
• analyzed for TCC's typical alluvial well parameter list, and not
for the Fish Creek study area list. The problem was corrected in
July and the correct parameter list has been followed since that
time. Given the comprehensive list for the typical alluvial well
TCC does not believe any significant data has been lost due to this
problem.
The hydrologic monitoring is conducted by Cyprus Yampa Valley Coal
and Twentymile Coal Company personnel. The water quality analyses
were performed by ACZ Laboratories of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
2.0 GROUND WATER MONITORING
BEDROCK
Two wells are completed in a shallow sandstone unit which is
located within the Fish Creek Alluvial Valley Floor study area.
Well GWB-2 was replaced in December, 1993 by well GWB-2R. It
appears that subsidence caused the failure of well GWB-2, as it
appeared the casing pinched off at the interface of a sandstone and
shale.
Water Levels
Water levels in the two wells , GWB-1 and GWB-2 & GWB-2R (Figures
•
