Memorandum ...,~'.rEO. <br />~°Kennecott <br />~0 ~ - W <br />~ aEner4Y <br />FOR: JIM KIGER July 3, 1996 <br />WEST PIT FILL MONITORING WELL <br />On June 25, 1996 the West Pit Fill Monitoring Well was completed. The well is located on <br />the lowest bench of the Fill and penetrates to below the rock underdrain. The hole did not make any <br />water, but small quantities would have been impossible to observe since the majority of the well had <br />to be drilled wet. A water level was observed corresponding to the interface between the porous <br />rock underdrain and the underlying undisturbed strata. Subsequent testing with a bailer indicated <br />less than .Ol gallons/minute rechazge, indicating a negligible source of water. The source of water <br />may well be drilling fluids remaining afrer drilling. <br />The following information and attached diagram describe the well. <br />A. Location - 348,741.203 N, 1,350,738.504 E as surveyed by Colowyo Surveyors. <br />B. Depth - 90.5 feet. <br />C. Elevation - 6967.85 top of casing, 6963.3 surface. <br />D. Interval where water was encountered during drilling -none. <br />E. Diameter ofHole - 8-3/4 inches. <br />F. Drilling Method -rotary drilled, dry first 20', water and soap for the remainder of the well. <br />G. Completed Well String - 40 feet perforated 5" I.D. steel casing, remainder unperforated 5" <br />I.D. steel casing. <br />H.
