1
1
MINREC, INC., NORTH THOMPSON CREEK MINES
1991 ANNUAL HYDROLOGIC REPORT
OCTOBER 1990 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 1991
INTRODUCTION
The Operator completed reclamation of the North Thompson
Creek Mines during 1987. The No.l Mine was sealed during 1987
with the expectation that no water would discharge from it again.
' The No. 3 Mine was sealed, however pipes were placed in the
lowest seal to allow water to drain from the mine.
Current monitoring requirements are shown on pages 3-61 and
' 3-86 of the Permit. During 1988 page 3-86 was revised to include
a requirement to analyze the discharge from the No. 1 Mine water
treatment ponds annually in June.
' Monitoring data for this years report is segregated into the
following appendices:
' Appendix No. Monitoring Data
1
~J
1

1

I
II
III
IV
SURFACE WATER QUALITY
North Thompson Creek
Upstream & Downstream Water Quality
Refuse Pile Piezometers, D-lA & D-2A
Water Level, pH, Conductivity & Graphs
Mine Water Level
No. 3 Mine
Mine Discharge Quality
No. 1 Mine & No. 3 Mine
Appendix I contains the water quality information collected
for North Thompson Creek. The quality information taken on North
Thompson Creek, in May and September, is designed to monitor
quality at the approximate high and low flow.
The variation of the quality of North Thompson Creek as it
passed the mines this year was similar to that which would be ex-
pected from the baseline monitoring data and the fact that the
Abandoned Mined Lands peat bog water treatment system is dis-
charging into the creek between the upstream and downstream water
monitoring points.
1
