monitoring was performed in the 1999 calendar year, but was resumed in
2000. This site is monitored in June and September.
- NPDES 017 (NPDESI7) This site exists on Hubberson Gulch in the II-W
South Expansion area. Construction of Pond 017 began on October 14, 2002
and was completed in December 2002. This year, no flow occurred in
October 2005. After spring runoff, discharge at this site stopped by
August 9, but started again on September 19. It is monitored weekly,
except when inaccessible by truck. Average flow for each water year was:
2006 0.162 cfs
2005 0.119 cfs
2004 0.080 cfs
2003 0.167 cfs
Average historic flow is 0.132 cfs. TDS values at this site are
increasing. Baseline data from Site SW-S2W-SG17 (WSH17) has been
provided in Appendix Ei.
- NPDES 016 (NPDE516) This site exists on a Hubberson Gulch tributary
in the II-W South area. Pond 016 was nearly complete in September 2000,
and first discharged in April 2001. It is monitored weekly, except when ,
inaccessible by truck. The average flow each water year was:
2006 0.103 cfs
2005 0.044 cfs
2004 0.037 cfs
2003 0.090 cfs
2002 0.037 cfs
2001 0.019 cfs
Average historic flow is 0.055 cfs. Mine pit pumping into this pond is
responsible for many of the high peaks present on the hydrograph in
previous years. TDS values at this site were increasing, but since 2005
they have decreased. Baseline data from Site SW-S2W-SG16 (WSH16) has
been provided in Appendix E1.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2W-SG7 (WSH7). This site is located on
Hubberson Gulch upstream of the confluence of mine discharges contained
in the 006 Gulch, but is downstream of Ponds 016 and 017. Monitoring
14
