Monitoring Sites; and the Table of Contents of Appendices C through E
have all been revised to correlate the old site (and map) name to the
new (Paradox) computer name. The new computer name will be used
throughout the following text.
Meteorological Data
Precipitation data is collected from a Belfort Weighing Bucket Rain Gage
situated adjacent to Surface Water Site SW-S2W-FG1. Data for this year
may be found in Table 1. Total monthly precipitation data collected at
this site since Water Year 1990 are presented in Table 2. The Seneca II-
W precipitation gage measured 19.26 inches this year. This value is 1.40
inches (8%) above the 1990-2006 average of 17.76 inches. All months
except February, April, May and June were above average. Temperature,
wind speed, and direction data from the Seneca II-W Meteorologic Station
are presented in Appendix B. Several problems occurred at this station
this year, including missing data in January thru March and questionable
temperature data in October thru January. In order to make up for the
data gaps, data from NOAA's Hayden Station is also provided in Appendix
A.
Data from the National Climatic Data Center's Hayden Station is used
here to evaluate the precipitation trend. For this year, 21.14 inches
of precipitation was measured, which is 3.80 inches (22g) above the
1971-2000 average. All months except February, April, May and June were
above average. Snowpack runoff, as estimated by totaling November
through March precipitation values, was 9.25 inches, which was 2.07
inches (29~) above the 1971-2000 average.
Snowpack runoff, estimated using the Seneca II-W precipitation gage, was
7.92 inches (November-March total), which is 0.98 inches (14 ~) above the
Seneca II-W 1990-2006 average, 6.94 inches. These values are more
relevant than the Hayden Station data when evaluating the spring runoff
observed this year at Seneca II-W.

Z
