RED CANYON MINE
DRILL HOLE RECLAMATION DATA
Reclamation of monitoring wells A-1, A-2, E-1 and R-3 began on June 2, 1999 and was
completed on June 5, 1999. Approximately 13 hours were spent sealing remaining 4
wells. Wells developed into formation and all of the mine site wells were first sealed with
bentonite chips. These chips came in 50 lb. bags under the name of "Pure Gold" and were
designed specifically for the ground water monitoring industry. For shallow the well the
bentonite was poured into hole until it reached approximately 10' from the ground level
and on the deeper well a volume to include the perforated zone plus 20' was calculated
and poured in the hole. The portion of the pipe between the bentonite and approximately
10' below the surface on the deeper formation well and the entire pipe below 10' on the
alluvial wells was filled with sand from a local gravel pit. The original cuttings had long
been spread and incorporated in the surrounding soils. A mix of approximately 50%
portland type 2 cement, 50% sand and water was used to seal the top of all of the wells.
A hole was dug azound the pipe and the concrete surface seal was broken off. The pipe
was cut or broken off at that level. No location references were left in place.
• A-I - 6/5/99 filled with sand to 11' below grade, cemented 11 - 0.5', cut off 0.5'
below grade.
• A-2 - 6!5/99 filled with sand to 7' below grade, cemented 7 - 0.5' below grade, cut off
at 0.5' below grade.
• R-3 - 6/2/99 filled with bentonite to 8' below grade, cemented 8 - 1.6' below grade,
cut off at 1.6' below grade.
• E-1 - 612199 filled with 8.5 bags of bentonite (approx.0.67 cf/bag). 6/3/99 filled with
sand to 7' below grade, cemented 7 - 2.4' below grade, cut off at 2.4' below grade.
Prepared by Larry M.
