DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Elevated manganese reported on Ml 1-R monthly sample result
Dear Mr. Dillie:
BMRI is conducting monthly groundwater monitoring at a number of wells in the vicinity
of the west pit in accordance with the requirements of the TR-15 Response Plan
(November 16, 1998j. This letter is written to advise you that in the course of that
monitoring program, the analysis of a monthly sample collected of well M-1 1 R on
January 18, 1999 reflected a manganese level of .051 mg/I as compared to the permit
condition value of .OS mg/I, A copy of the inorganic analytical results are enclosed. BMRI
inlends to continue implementation of the monthly monitoring requirements under the
approved 7R-15 Response Plan, incorporate these analytical results into the overall data
base and comprehensively address the issue in the context of the long term response
plan currently under development to be submitted in March. Thus, we do not plan any
further verification sampling or other monitoring beyond that contemplated in the
currently approved Response Plan.
Please contact me at (719) 672-4122 if you have any further questions or concerns
regarding this letter or the approach outlined above.
Sincerely,
~~~
Ron Zumwalt
cc: Bilt Lyle
Dan Roberfson
~ ~J
