In conclusion, following water year 1998, de-watering did not affect the upper aquifer
(Perched) and therefore the nearby springs, fed by this aquifer. The A and B-Groove
aquifers were affected locally (WL by pumpage from water well), and in late 1994 WQ was
affected in water well 90-1, which is completed in the A-Groove. In 1998, WQ was stable in
90-1, see Figure 6~. WL or WQ effects appear to be limited to the water well 90-1 and
well EX-2 and not detectable at other monitoring sites, therefore no regional effects are
anticipated. The deep aquifer or Dissolution Surface at EX-2 and water well 90-1
apparently were impacted by the mining operation in 1994, but continued pumpage from
90-1, plus use of submersible pumps have resulted in improved or stable WQ in 1998.
• However, significant improvements in WQ noted in 1995 - 1996 have stabilized.
Regional potentiometric readings are shown on Table 6-16. Dissolution Surface well MW-
1 (1/2 mile northwest of the project) decrease (-6.9') from 1997 -1998 and IRI-9 (lower
aquifer, one mile southwest of the project decreased in WL (-0.4"). These changes may
reflect use of submersible pumps and change is similar to WRN monitoring wells. No
significant change was noted in the other lower aquifer wells, i.e. TH75~B (+1.8'), TH75-
11-B (-0.8') and IRI-PW-1 (Boles Bed) (-0.6'). Upper aquifer wells i.e. TH75-11A (+1.6 '),

80
