Logan Wash Mine Annual Report
Permit No.: M-1977.424
2004). Also, it is possible the road will remain in place for local cattle use. The BLM has not
made a formal statement regarding this possibility.
Specific reclamation activities expected to be conducted during 2004 include:
• Complete transplanting of tublings to establish the "vegetated "islands" on the upper and
lower dumps,
• Abandon wells LW-12, LW-22, and LW-422 (ID uncertain). Leave Well LWCW-lA in
place as "point of compliance" well,
• Seed and mulch the upper and lower mine bench access roads (regrade and contour as
needed),
• In accordance with a decided remedy with the BLM, regrade and contour the Research
Mine Bench (compatible with the final solution for sealing and mine-water management
of the Research Mine Portal),
• In accordance with a decided remedy with the BLM, regrade and contour the upper mine
access road, again, as compatible with the final solution for sealing and mine-water
management of the Research Mine Portal (a local rancher has requested that this road be
left open for cattle access to spring water near the Research Mine Portal and to allow
cattle to move to and from the top of the plateau without using the main Logan Wash
Road),
• Seed and mulch the lower mine access road (regrade and contour as needed),
• Remove the 40-fr section of piping and related support structure formally used for retort
drain water,
• Remove fencing on previously reclaimed areas (spurs along main Logan Wash Access
Road),
GSHI does not intend to reclaim the evaporation pond as it is necessary for the treatment of retort
drainage water from the mine.
7.0 Anticipated Disturbance in the Year 2004
No new disturbance of significant acreage is anticipated in the year 2004. However, some
peripheral acreage may be disturbed during reclamation work; this acreage will be reclaimed
during final reclamation/revegetation work.
