Dept. of Natural Resources
RESPONSES TO RULE 2.41:
Rule 2.41(1): Location and number of acres affected during that year.
In 1982 5.24 acres of land were mined in the Christian Pit.
Rule 2.41(2): Locations and number of acres reclaimed £or that year.
In 1982 there was no reclamation accomplished at the Christian Pit.
Rule 2.41(3): The location and number of acres in various stages of reclamation
(backfilled, graded, topsoil replaced, revegetated).
In our eastern operation there is 2.5 acres covered in the topsoil stockpile. On
the north side of this operation there is 3.3 acres that has been graded and top-
soiled but has not been seeded. In our western operation no other land has been
graded, topsoiled or seeded. On the west side o£ the operation is the topsoil
stockpile of 4 acres.
Rule 2.41(4): The species of vegetation planted, the locations and approximate
dates of planting.
In 1979, 45.9 acres were seeded by Randall and Blake. This is the only seeding
that has occurred since the 1976 permit was approved.
Rule 2.41(5): The type and approximate quantity of fertilizers, organic material
or soil conditioners used and location of use.
No record exists of what soil amendments were used on the seeding project. It can
only be assumed some fertilizer was applied. However, none was called for in the
permitted plan or in the S.C.S. recommendations. It appears this will have to re-
main an unknown until some definite information is acquired.
Rule 2.41(6): An appraisal of the success of reclamation efforts and in the event
of failure of any efforts, a short narrative on the suspected or determined cause
of such failure.
Because of the cold weather this spring it is hard to tell what grasses will come
up when we get warmer weather. The grass is growing on the area and appears to be
of similar cover to the surrounding areas which are rather sparse.
Rule 2.41(7): Estimates of the location and number of acres to be affected in the
coming year. ~~/d /~3
orr~l•~'~
