999
STATE OF COLORADO
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver,CO 80203
303 866-3567
FAX: 303 832-8106 a6
Roy Romer.
Governor
Fred R.Banta.
Division Director
DATE: March 2, 1990
TO: Matt Hayes
FROM: Jim Pendleton
RE: WECC Lowe Was a Monitoring Reports - 3rd & 4th Quarters, 1989
(Permit No: C-80-007)
I have reviewed the two quarterly reports submitted by West Elk Coal Company.
These reports contain bout compaction test and surface stability monument
survey results. In both cases the results appear acceptable. In both cases,
the compaction testing, performed on September 27, 1989 and November 14 , 1989,
determined that the waste was being compacted to specification. The survey
results of both reports demonstrate that the facial slope of the waste pile
remains stable. The only glitch appears to be an apparent 0.55 foot rise of
monument B-8, between October and December of 1989. This could plausibly be
explained by shallow frost activity.
cc: Sue Mowry
Doc. No: 4735F
