,~ ...'ANNUAL REPORT
' Permit 80-20
September 14,
Page 2
• •
1982
extent of 7.77 acres, and just a small fraction of Sector No.
4 of .13 acre were also effected. Hence, the mining plan is
proceeding as proposed and projected in the Amended Permit
Application. The southern end of the existing pit, since the
last Annual Report, has been excavated to a greater depth
than existed of between 3 and 5 feet.
2. The location and number of areas reclaimed in the past year
is none. This corresponds to the projection in the Amended
Reclamation Plan which was approved, because it was expected
that, within five years of the Amended Application, Phase 1
of reclamation, which would be that area bounded by and
including Sector 1 on the East and Sector 2 on the West, the
northernmost boundary being parallel to the southernmost
boundary of the Pit, would be reclaimed. Reclamation would
commence only on full excavation of the remaining materials,
which, of course, has not yet been accomplished. A
projection from three to five years from the date of the
Amended Permit was noted as the range between the earliest
and the latest date of reclamation of this first phase.
Again, no reclamation has been undertaken and one year has
elapsed from the date of the Amended Permit.
3. Information requested regarding the location and number of
acres in various stages of reclamation, the species of
vegetation planted, the location and approximate dates of
planting, the type and approximate quantity of fertilizers,
organic material or soil conditioners used and location of
use, and an appraisal of the success of reclamation efforts,
and in the event of failure of any efforts, a short narrative
on the suspected or determined causes of such failure are not
applicable because no reclamation to date has been
undertaken. Please note, again, reclamation is not expected
to commence except, at the earliest, two years from this
point in time, and at the latest, four years from this point
of time in the first phase of three phases of reclamation
expected.
4. The estimate of the location and the number of areas to be
affected in the coming year are none. It is expected there
will be no further expansion of the present perimeter as
shown on Map "D". Mining is expected to proceed within this
present perimeter to greater depths. If any additional areas
are affected, they would be additional areas in Sectors 2, 3
and 4, expanding the pit outward in that direction.
5. The effective date of the information provided is the date
set forth above.
f ~ .__
