Regarding the content of the geologist's report, the Division has reviewed the attachment to your letter
and the text & map comprising Exhibit G of the Young Gravel Source application. After reviewing the
information, the Division can find no inconsistency between the information presented in the
application and the information presented in the attachment to your letter. The application text
portion of Exhibit G uses the terms "aquifer" and "perched alluvial gravel bench aquifer"
interchangeably; the map portion of Exhibit G uses the term "perched alluvial bench aquifer". The
attachment to your letter uses the terms "aquifer" and "perched alluvial bench aquifer"
interchangeably. Contrary to statements made in your letter, Exhibit E of the application does not use
the term "true aquifer" as asserted in your letter. The use of more than one term to describe an
aquifer does not render an application incomplete and does not require re-publication of notices.
Please contact me at the Durango Field Office, 970-247-5062 if you have any questions or if I Can be
of further assistance.
Sincerely, -
. ti
Tom Gillis
Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
/tdg
a:m 1 15cor6.tdg
00237
z
