Revegetacion <br />Seeding and Planting <br />A total of 41.7 acres were permanently seeded in the south mine block of [he Seneca II-W <br />Mine in 1997. Seeded areas included 41.7 acres seeded with Seed My No. 1 - Upland Sites <br />antl Epheme [al Drainages and supplemented with addrtional Eo rb and shrub seed, see Table <br />97.x, There wecE no permanent cevegetation activities in the north mine block. Seeded and <br />shrub planting ai eas are shown on drawing ZW97-3. Se eaing was completed wrch a Laird <br />ra ngeland Hype drill seeder. All permanent seeding was completed in late Sep[embEC and <br />early ur_cober. Several acres wer=_ reseeded by broadcast on the NOV area a[ [he ••B" pit. <br />Shrub 3e edl:nn Plan*ir~y <br />During September 1997, 9776 con[aineri=ed na true Lree ano shrub seedlings were planted in <br />prepared plots at Seneca II-W mine. A crew from Bitterroot Na[i'/e Growers, Ha mil[on, MT <br />planted 5470 seen lint's in shrub plot 2W97-1 (3.0 acresl. A.1 so, 4306 seedlings were planted <br />in [he 1997 direct seeded plot Lo supplement the 1997 plan[i ng. All seedlings were 10" <br />concaLnerized [ublings grown from seed collected near Seneca Mine and created with <br />mycurehi ral inocuian[ prepared from Seneca soils. See Tabie 97.4 for species and num6e[s <br />plancea Ln 19?7, Also, see drawing 2W97-~ for the location of seeded areas and shrue plc[s. <br />Moni[~r. The herbicide mix was dote rmined from Colorado Sfate <br />Uni misi[y ea ensLOn office information and label instructions. All peso rides were applied <br />oy an EFA certified applicator.
