recovery from the A pit mining in this azea may be complete. The water levels in well P-8 overall
were steady in 2005.
Water levels for well GF-4 are presented in Figure A-7. A large rise in water level in well
GF-4 was observed in the last half of 1999 after the repair of the casing on September 29, 1999.
Water levels overall gradually increased in 2005 in well GF-4 with a small increase in the second
quarter due to recharge. Mining occurred south of well GF-4 in the eazly 1980's and is expected to
limit water-level changes in the HI aquifer neaz well GF-4. Water levels in the upgradient
unconfined backfill aquifer do not fluctuate as much as the confined HI aquifer. It is also possible
that the backfill spring in Johnson Gulch maybe limiting the head in the bac)d:ill aquifer.
Wells GF-6 and GF-11 are completed in the QR aquifer and QR bacldll, respectively.
Backfill well GF-11 is located on the downgradient side of the inactive E pit, while well GF-6 is
located downgradient of the pit. GF-11 is 1150 feet upslope and upgradient of GF-6. Overall
increases in water levels were observed in wells GF-6 and GF-11 for 2005 (see Figure A-8). The i
head in well GF-11 is nearly 13 feet above the head in well GF-6. The water levels in the bac)cfill
aquifer may be neaz the fully recovered level from mining.
Figure A-9 presents water levels for GP-7 and GP-8, which aze located very neaz the
eastern boundary of the PA. They are completed in the KI.M and HI aquifers and may provide
undisturbed baseline data for these intervals but could be influenced by mining for the last few years.
Water levels in well GP-7overall gradually declined in 2005 while a lazger decline was observed in
well GP-8 for the last five years. Both of these wells are thought to be showing natural responses but
could be influenced by the mining that is greater than 2200 feet away. The larger decline in well GP-
8 indicates mining maybe causing some of this decline.
Trapper Mining Company 2-6
2005 Annual Report
