ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: United Companies of Mesa County
Location: Glen's Pit
File Number: M-2005-075
Anniversary Date: May 31, 2007
This ]ocation began to have some activity in mid August of 2006. This location serves as
amain source of aggregates for United Companies in the Rifle area. A portable crusher
operated here once in the fourth quarter of 2006 and once this year producing asphalt
plant and redi-mix aggregates. This location also serves as a site for our portable asphalt
plant should we be successful bidding highway work.
Weed management takes place on a twice a year basis. This fall the overburden stockpile
will get hydroseeded or a broadcast seed treatment as part of reclamation. Stormwater
management is satisfactory as all runoff is contained within the pit itself. Some tamarisk
and Russian Olive trees have been pulled out. Smaller tamarisk have been treated by
either basil bark or cut stump method. The settling pond is satisfactory for pit discharge
water. Discharge water quality is well within specs.
Sincerely,
I~~~ W , ~~~~.J
Brent W. Kerr
Resource Manager
