Long
Drvisian Director
The referenced annual hydrology report (AHR) was reviewed by
Barbara Pavlik of the Denver office, and a copy of her review
comments is enclosed. Ms. Pavlik's memo contains the following
questions and recommendations to which you will need to respond:
Item 2) Is there any indication that a spoil aquifer has
developed in the reclaimed waste disposal area? Have any springs
or seeps ever been observed at the waste disposal area, and if so
what were the flow and quality characteristics?
Item 7) In future AHR's, the table presented on page 2 should
include units for TDS.
Items 8) and 9) Was the intent
the E seam aquifer or the mine
relationship between the water
level in the mine workings?
of Well E-1 to monitor levels in
workings? What is the assumed
level in Well E-1 and the water
Item 10) With respect to wells which are not currently being
monitored, The D seam wells could be abandoned, as could wells E-2
and E-3. We would not recommend abandonment of Well F-1, or
alluvial wells at this time, to allow for future monitoring if
questions were to arise prior to final bond release. It would be
prudent to delay sealing of these wells until shortly prior to
submittal of the final bond release request.
I would recommend that you contact Barbara Pavlik if you have
questions regarding specific concerns identified in her memo.
