This monitor station was located within the area of anticipated moderate <br />• levels of potential contamination, and to monitor the influence of the groundwater sutface to <br />pumping from recovery well R W -I. <br />MW-9: MW-9, a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent <br />leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building at the <br />New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located within the area of anticipated moderate levels of <br />potential contamination. <br />MW-I0: MW-IQ a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent <br />leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building at the <br />New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located within the area of anticipated moderate levels of <br />potential contamination, and to monitor the reaction of the groundwater surface to pumping from <br />recovery well R W -l. <br />Inactive Stations <br />ACA W -1: A dip sample from an alluvial well located in the Apache Canyon alluviwn at the <br />mouth of Apache Canyon. It was established to monitor potential effects of secondary or retreat <br />mining. This station is currently inactive as per CDMG approval. <br />ACF-1: A grab sample from, and a measurement of, a stream flmne located in Apache Canyon <br />approximately one-half mile from the confluence with the Purgatoire River. It was established to <br />assess potential effects of secondary or retreat mining on stream quality and flow. This station is <br />currently inactive as per CDMG approval. <br />WPD-1: A grab sample station of the West Portal Mine discharge pipe at the New Elk Mine located in <br />the inactive West Portal Area. As with station NE-001, ^o data has been collected since 1989 due to the <br />sealing of the mine. <br />Thickener Pump: This site was established to monitor flows from the New Elk prep plant thickener into <br />the New Elk mine workings (TR-34). This activity has not been initiated. <br />Recycling Pump: This site was established to document the pwnping of water from [he New Elk <br />workings at NEW -4 to the Prep Plant. Picketwire has not initiated the thickener <br />recycling project as of ttris date. <br />• <br />12 <br />
