CO 80203
Dear Sirs:
For the Colony Shale Oil Project enclosed are our annual report, fee payment, and
photographs of signs and boundary markers we have installed.
Annual Report
Items 4 and 8 in the annual report deal with acreage affected during the past year and
acreage to be affected during the coming year. As we reported last year and Messrs.
Gregg Squire and Carl Mount observed during their 1995 site inspection, early this
year we began dismantling and removal of the pilot scale oil shale retorting plant
which occupied approximately 3 acres within Area 5 in our 1982 Site Disturbance
Inventory. Removal of the structure and its appurtenances has been completed.
Since work has been confined to areas which had previously been disturbed, items 4
and 8 are reported as zero.
Since we do not expect to need this 3 acre site for commercial development, we plan
to reclaim it next year. Although its reclamation is not specifically addressed in the
1980 MLRB Permit Application, we plan to reclaim the pilot retort plant site in
accordance with the procedures that are described in that document for the process
plant site. This work will entail recontouring to produce a gently rolling topography,
removal or burial of foundations to just below grade, spreading 6-12 inches of topsoil,
and reseeding the area using the permanent seed mix specified for the process plant
site. Upon completion of this work, we expect that item 6 in next year's report will
change to reflect the additional 3 acres which will have been backfilled, graded,
topsoiled, and reseeded.
~,
A DIVISION OF EX%ON CORPORATION
