Banta,
Division Director
70: Cathy Begej, Jeff Clayton, and Carl tdount
FROM: Tim King
RE: Seneca II Annual Hydrology Report
On this data I reviewed the Annual Hydrology Report for the Seneca II Mine,
covering the 1989 water year.
Ground Water
After careful analysis of ground water parameters, on both short and long
lists, six parameters were exceeded consistently. In order of maximum to
minimum number of times exceeded, they were:
Total Dissolved Solids
Sulfide
Sul fate
Dissolved Manganese
Total Suspended Solids
Dissolved Iron
The frequency of monitoring appears in compliance. Generally, the ground
water wells are to be monitored for water levels five times per year, and for
water quality two times per year. This standard appears to have been
maintained except for the following wells: GW-S59-S, GW-S60-S, GW-S63-S,
GW-S64-S, and GW-S65-S. Only GW-S65-S shows a dry well.
Surface Water
As with ground water, the same six parameters were exceeded consistently,
although the order of maximum to minimum was different. They were:
Total Dissolved Solids
Sulfide
Sulfate
Dissolved Iron
Dissolved Manganese
Total Suspended Solids
The frequency of monitoring appears in compliance. Generally, field
parameters are taken monthly and water quality is taken three times per year.
This standard appears to have been maintained.
/ern
5674E
