ANNUAL REPORT FOR B STREET PROJECT-NORTH PIT
August 23, 2000
File: Classic S & G/Ann. Report, N
There has been limited mining activity on the North Pit. The northerly 4 acres (green
color) has remained undisturbed, and has been found to have very little quality gravel, so
there is no mining planned for this azea in the coming year. The easterly portion has also
remained undisturbed and will remain so in the coming yeaz.
Upon planning for the ultimate development of the parcel as amulti-family site, it was
found [hat the parcel along with the remainder of the 160-acre holdings would be short of
dirt. We have, therefore, started imparting dirt from other sites in the area. A portion of
this dirt is stockpiled in the narrow center azea of the permit (yellow color) that was
found to be devoid of gravel. This stockpile is not related to the mining operation, but
will be used in the ultimate reclamation of the area as a multi use land development.
About 3 or four acres in the middle of the permit area is being actively mined presently.
This mining will continue, but the amount of time is indefinite since the gravel veins are
difficult [o quantify and anticipate. Upon exhausting the mineable gravel, we will begin
reclamation operations. The reclamation will either consist of replacing some of the
overburden and seeding, or developing the land for its ultimate use, apartments. Which
of these programs is used will depend upon timing of public agency approvals, and the
market for such parcels.
No reclamation is planned in the coming year. The site is not visible from anywhere off
site. We have maintained a flat floor to the pit, and there is no evidence of erosion, even
after summer thunderstorms.
RE~~g~~ p
C ~-
~'~1~ ~ ~ 'r.7
U
Division of i„ir,,,,iV ~Td
Geology
